In this module, we discussed major issues surrounding digital intellectual property theft In this module, we discussed major issues surrounding digital intellectual property theft (i.e., piracy). Specifically, we discussed some of the debate that surrounds piracy, in regards to how we conceptualize property and how the criminal justice system is being used to perhaps do the bidding of corporations. Moreover, we discussed how some people view piracy not in the terrestrial sense of stealing (in the traditional sense of the word), but as an expression of free speech. For this discussion post, I want each of you to do the following: 1) Select and state your position of whether you are pro or anti-piracy; 2) List and discuss a minimum of three reasons as to why you are either for or against piracy; 3) Discuss whether or not you view piracy in the same light as theft of physical property, in the terrestrial sense of the word. In your two minimum replies to fellow classmates, be sure to state whether you agree/disagree with them and why. Also, feel free to challenge them on their positions, just be respectful about it. Must be 400 words(i.e., piracy).
