On the Beach

In 1957, Nevil Shute published On the Beach, a novel about a post-apocalyptic world. This book was made into a movie in 1959. This book describes the consequences of highly technological war. Chapter 10 in the textbook describes some highly technological tools of warfare, such as chemical agents. Do you believe that we should be developing these even if other countries are adding them to their arsenal?
