Introduction:

Read the attached “Xemba Translations Case Study” before completing this task.

Scenario:

Xemba Translations has begun the process of trying to accommodate the increased number of telecommuters at the company. As the newly hired project manager, brought in to take over completion of the project, you have a milestone meeting scheduled with the project sponsor. A portion of the meeting will be focused on the current risks of the project. There was a risk assessment study done early in the project, but as it has now been several weeks since the project began, you determine that a new risk assessment should be conducted. The updated risk assessment matrix will help the team be aware of the current risks and the specific strategies you expect to use to mitigate those risks.

The project sponsor is interested in keeping up to date on how the project is progressing. The sponsor is expecting documentation, including metrics, that breaks down how the project teams have been performing and what current issues need to be addressed.

Requirements:

A. Create an addendum to the risk assessment matrix that documents five current risks to the project, addressing each of the following points for each risk:

• Description of risk

• Impact

• Likelihood of occurrence

• Degree of impact

• Initial action to take if event occurs

• Team member responsible

• Strategies for prevention and mitigation

B. Describe each of the metrics you would use to measure the project’s performance and how you would calculate each metric.

1. Justify why these metrics would be appropriate to use for this project, based on details from the case study.

2. Discuss your interpretation of the project’s current performance based on your calculations, using the metrics described in part B.

3. Analyze three problems that currently exist based on your B2 calculations by doing the following:

a. Discuss how three distinct problems based on your B2 calculations could affect project execution and post-project success.

i. Discuss your mitigation and/or removal strategy for the root cause of each of the three problems identified in part B3a so the project completes successfully.

C. Prepare a formal executive summary (suggested length of 2 pages) for the project sponsor by communicating your recommendations as related to your risk assessment from part A and your recommendations from parts B3a-ai.

D. When you use sources, include all in-text citations and references in APA format.

Note: When bulleted points are present in the task prompt, the level of detail or support called for in the rubric refers to those bulleted points.

Note: For definitions of terms commonly used in the rubric, see the Rubric Terms web link included in the Evaluation Procedures section.

Note: When using outside sources to support ideas and elements in a paper or project, the submission MUST include APA formatted in-text citations with a corresponding reference list for any direct quotes or paraphrasing. It is not necessary to list sources that were consulted if they have not been quoted or paraphrased in the text of the paper or project.

Note: No more than a combined total of 30% of a submission can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from outside sources, even if cited correctly. For tips on using APA style, please refer to the APA Handout web link included in the APA Guidelines section
