Introduction:

For this assessment, you will provide a detailed report of the result of executing your project. This task covers all aspects of the project plan from analysis (systems and process audit) to post-implementation support. The report has thirteen sections that receive formal grading according to the rubric provided.

Task:

Develop a capstone project that includes the following sections:

A. Abstract (suggested length of 200 words)

1. Summarize the most important points of the project. Include the following in your summary:

• Business/IT problem under investigation

• Plan

• Research methodology

• Implementation proposal

• Proposed and actual outcomes

B. Introduction

1. Summarize the capstone’s highlights. Include the following in your summary:

• Project scope, including problem definition

• Defense of the solution

• Methodology justification

• Explanation of the organization of the capstone report

C. Systems and Process Audit

1. Explain the audit that occurred prior to the project design and development phase. Include the following information in your explanation:

• Audit details

• Clear problem statement

• Problem causes

• Business impact of the problem on various organizational units

• Cost analysis

• Risk analysis

D. Detailed and Functional Requirements

1. Explain what is required to execute the project. Include the following in your explanation:

• Functional (end-user) requirements

• Detailed requirements

• Existing gaps that a successful project would fill

E. Project Design

1. Create a project plan to design, develop, test, and implement a solution that addresses the problem statement. Include the following information in your plan:

• Scope

• Assumptions

• Project phases

• Timelines

• Dependencies

• Resource requirements

• Risk factors

• Important milestones

• Deliverables

F. Methodology

1. Explain your approach to resolving the problem. Include the following in your explanation:

• Different potential approaches for project phases

• Shortcomings (if any) in your approach

2. Defend your approach. Include the following points in your defense:

• Justification of the scalability of the chosen approach

• Justification of the long-term success of the chosen approach

G. Project Development

1. Explain the process for developing your project. Include the following in your explanation:

• Hardware

• Software

• Tech stack

• Architecture details

2. Justify the resources used.

3. Discuss the final output.

H. Quality Assurance

1. Discuss your approach to quality assurance. Include the following in your discussion:

• Specify the quality assurance criteria.

2. Explain how you tested your solution. Include the following in your explanation:

• Justification for test cases and scenarios

• Acceptance criteria

I. Implementation Plan

1. Discuss the plan for implementing the project. Include the following in your discussion:

• Strategy for the implementation

• Phases of the rollout

• Details of the go-live

• Dependencies (if any)

• Deliverables

• Training plan for users

J. Risk Assessment

1. Discuss quantitative and qualitative risks associated with your solution.

2. Develop a cost/benefit analysis for each risk by addressing the following:

• The risk of a benefit shortfall and what a shortfall will cost (e.g., If you predict a 50% decrease in malicious attacks on a particular system, what is the cost of not meeting that benefit level?)

• The risk of a cost overrun and its consequences (e.g., Would a cost overrun result in forced reduced staffing?)

3. Explain how you would mitigate these risks. Include the following in your explanation:

• Rollback plan

• Alternatives to the original implementation plan, with pros and cons of each

K. Postimplementation Support and Issues

1. Discuss postimplementation support for the solution.

2. Discuss the resources needed for postimplementation support.

3. Develop a plan for short- and long-term maintenance.

L. Conclusion, Outcomes, and Reflection

1. Summarize the project.

a. Discuss the deliverables that you are submitting (e.g., program listings, flow diagrams, site plans).

b. Discuss the outcomes (e.g., How did those affected react? Was your project actually implemented? How do you feel about your work?).

2. Reflect on what you learned from the process.

M. When you use sources, include all in-text citations and references in APA format.
