There are diodes that are LEDs with a turn on voltage of Von = 2 V and a reverse breakdown voltage of VBR = -10 V.
a) You hook up a single diode to a power supply that can put out voltage from -20 V to +20 V and the forward direction of the diode points from positive to negative voltage. Make a sketch of this circuit. Draw an IV curve of the diode and label when the light goes on.
b) You reverse the direction of the diode from Part a). Make a sketch of this circuit. Draw an IV curve of the diode and label when the light goes on.
c) You now use two diodes and hook up the circuit below. Draw an IV curve of the circuit and label when a light will be on.
d) Do we ever have to worry about either diode breaking down due to too large of a reverse voltage? Justify your answer.Â
