An issue identification and voter preference script

YOUR WORK SHOULD BE 4 PAGES OR MORE IN TOTAL

For this group simulation exercise, your group will work together to produce three scripts for a phone bank.

This assignment will help you practice the phone script skills discussed in our lessons and readings this week (see pages 82-84 and 91-92 in Chapter 7 in Campaign Camp Training Manual). In addition, this exercise tests your understanding of the difference between a voter ID, persuasion, and GOTV script. Think strategically about whom you are calling, how conversational in tone the script is, how script engages the voter, and how effectively the script delivers a message or secures necessary information

Scenario

Your group is running a phone bank for a school levy campaign in Bismarck, North Dakota. It is half an hour before 40 volunteer callers arrive at the call office and someone has failed to prepare the phone scripts.

Your group has been asked to develop three scripts:

  1. An issue identification and voter preference script (e.g., for, against, or undecided on raising a $0.05 sales tax in the Bismarck school district)
  2. An issue persuasion script—you should pick a specific education issue.
  3. A GOTV script.

Information on whom you are calling:

  • You are calling members of your coalition.
  • They are in a district in which your candidate must do well.
  • Their district has a high number of recent high school dropouts and economically disadvantaged students.
  • Issues they are concerned with are as follows:
  • Adjusting educational funding to allow districts to recruit and retain competent and qualified teachers and school leaders.
  • Establishing weighting factors that support all children in meeting high standards of academic performance.
  • Fully funding special education.

YOUR ENTIRE WORK COULD BE ABOUT 4 PAGES. CHECK THE BELOW LINK FOR RELEVANT NOTES BUT DON'T PLAGIARIZE
