As leaders take on roles of greater influence within their organizations, being authentic while having the ability to inspire trust among colleagues is critical to success.

Authentic leaders share common traits from a clear sense of mission and self-awareness to the ability to find common ground among others. These traits build trust, cooperation, and an environment of both support and challenge, helping to create a healthy organization. Power can be used positively or negatively. When used negatively it will most likely cause conflict. Used positively it can be used to not only overcome conflict, but possibly avert it.

OUT has gone the command and control style of leadership, and IN has come a new, more empathetic, emotionally intelligent style of leadership where communication becomes one of the top two skills that you need to succeed, the first being intellect and the ability to develop the best strategy.
