Digital/analog (D/A) converters have error specifications which may be expressed
in any one of four different units of measure. These units of measure are (Note: order
is not important)
(1) LSBs, % of 1S, error in volts, ppm
(2) LSBs, LOE, % of FS, ppm
(3) LOE, monotonicity, ppm, error in volts
(4) error in volts, LOE, ppm, zero offset

LSBs = Least significant bit's value
%FS = % of full-scale output
monotonicity = See definition given below and
see Figure F-3 ppm = parts per million
LOE = Linearity of error
Monotonicity means that as temperature increases, the relative change in bit weight
also increases.
The differential nonlinearity must be less than 1 LSE at any temperature in the range of
interest.
