Assingment 5-7 pages

Very few would argue that faculty governance is critical. Accreditors, governmental policy, and common sense dictate that faculty should advise educational leaders in developing curriculum and approaches to teaching. In addition, faculty should be responsible for forming degree requirements, take prime responsibility for tenure arrangements, and possible rewards or awards. Recommendations to administration and university governing boards should be commonplace and faculty should be contributing to decisions regarding salary, evaluation of administration, and budgeting. In summary, faculty responsibilities and rights are expected to stem from solid policy and collaborative measures in shared governance.

Please consider the recommendations and suggestions for shared governance as explained by Gary Rhoades, Professor and Director from the University of Arizona’s Center for the Study of Higher Education:

Assignment:

For this assignment, you will develop a proposal to present to the (fictitious) governing board of Anytown University. As an administrator, you understand the importance of faculty collaboration and input; however, Anytown University has yet to establish policy and procedure relative to faculty governance. In the professional proposal to the governing board what policies and procedures would you include and why? Consider the importance of this task and what should be included as you draft the proposal. For more information about the structure of a professional proposal, see the link listed in the resources this week.

Length: 5-7 pages, not including the title and reference pages

References: Include a minimum of five scholarly resources.

Your proposal should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University's Academic Integrity Policy. Review NCU's Academic Integrity Tutorial to refresh your knowledge of how to achieve academic integrity. (see attachment below)
