Part 1

UMUC Databases--Video Tutorial 3--Using Other Sources

Please look at the library tutorial 3 video tutorial on the UMUC Library databases. 

1.     Please conduct the same keyword search you completed in the previous library exercises. Then add one of the additional resources to your search, as described in the video.

 

2.     Conduct a keyword search on one database.  Locate one article through this new search.  Then post the following:

 

-the name of the database you searched on

 

-the author and title of the article you found

Part 2

Citation Games

After reviewing APA Guidelines at the UMUC Library website, go to the following (APA Citation Game) http://depts.washington.edu/trio/quest/citation/apa_mla_citation_game/ and complete the 7 APA activities.

 

Then, visit the following website, (SuperTeacherTools.com) https://www.superteachertools.us/,  and create a short game (five question game) using your knowledge of APA citations.

 

Task: Interacting with the different games, learn about citations and put citations into proper APA style.

 

Objective: To develop awareness and understanding of proper APA guidelines.

 

Once you've completed the activities, please complete the following things:

 

1. After completing the 7 APA citations game, please write a sentence that tells us about your progress with developing proper citations.

 

2. After creating your game in (SuperTeacherTools.com)https://www.superteachertools.us/, please post a link to your game and attach an answer key in the discussion. Feel free to give your fellow students feedback on their games.

 

3. Finally, please post a short paragraph about citation on the discussion board. Here are some questions that may help prompt your paragraph:  What are the benefits of citing sources? When should one cite a source? What questions do you have about the process of citing sources using APA guidelines?
