Module 4 Paper: Personality and Career Analysis(2 pages minimum)

Personality and Career Analysis:

Now that you have identified your predominant personality type, from obtaining your Holland Code, you have also identified occupations and career fields that would be most complimentary to your specific interests and skills. From any of the personality types in which you have greatest interests, select five (5) occupations which are most appealing to you or those that sound interesting but require more research on your part. If you ever completed the Strong Interest Inventory, you have a quick and easy list of occupations to research. If not, use the O*Net websits(https://www.onetonline.org/find/descriptor/browse/...) and browse by interests(http://www.chroniclecareerlibrary.com/CGP/CGP/2ndp...). Or check out this list of occupations by Holland Code(http://www.chroniclecareerlibrary.com/CGP/CGP/2ndpghoc.html).

You should submit this as one document, with each of the 5 questions having 5 answers. I.E.-

Under #1 It should read:

Police Officer: Median Income: $AB,CDE

Social Worker: Median Income: $FG,HIJ

Make sure it is clear to me which occupation you are addressing in each section. Using the Occupational Outlook Handbook (available on line, in the “Tools and Resources” area, or as hard copy in the BCC Counseling Center in SS-210, or in most libraries), read about these 5 occupations are report back to me the following for EACH of the 5 occupations: (MAKE SURE YOUR ANSWERS ARE NARRATIVE- not simple quick sentences).

1. What is the median income for the occupation?

2. What education or training is required for entry into the field?

3. What are 3 specific duties or work activities in the occupation you like or are interested in?

4. What are 3 specific duties or work activities in the occupation you dislike or are disinterested in?

 

5. Is this a career field you'd like to get more information on? If so, how and where would you get this information? If not, what are some specific reasons you will not pursue this and what are some alternative career options available to you?

After finish writing. Please answer the following questions, a few sentences for each question will be great.

1.Locate the Sunday classifieds section from two or three weeks of newspapers in hard copy or on the Internet. (These do not need to be recent or local papers.) Scan the entire section of the Sunday job classifieds and identify those jobs that look interesting, regardless of whether you consider yourself qualified. Review the jobs that you identified and look for patterns in the announcements that caught your eye. Write the job titles and industries that interested you in the space below, what city and paper they're from, and why you selected the jobs and the area.

3.Which work environments interest you the most and why?

4.Visit the website http://utsa.edu/careercenter/students/career_asses... at the University of Texas- San Antonio and click on the personality description that fits you best as a dominant type. Discuss which, if any, of those occupations interests you, and specifically why.
