The endocrine and nervous systems work together to provide much of the communication needed throughout the body.
What defines endocrine communication and how does it differ from nervous system communication?
Hormone release from endocrine glands is often under the control of the anterior pituitary gland and the hypothalamus. Why is the pituitary gland often referred to as the master gland? Why is this label not entirely correct?
What are the two different kinds of hormones? Please compare and contrast the mechanisms by which these two kinds of hormones cause responses in their target cells. (Illustrations, although not required, may assist your explanations!)
Please explain how the same hormone might have different effects on two different target cells and no effect on nontarget cells.Â
