sociology portrait

explain the attributes of a micro environment as well as the values and drawbacks associated with this perspective. Using either Milestone One (family) or Milestone Two (education) content, explain how and in what specific ways the micro environment shaped your individual identity or the identity of the family member or close friend that you interviewed for the milestone submissions.

Incorporate knowledge of the sociological terms found in your milestone submissions as you identify the value gained as well as the drawbacks as a result of your identity (or the identity of your family member or close friend) formation occurring in either family or education.

(You must use at least three of the six sociological terms found within the milestone submissions you choose. For family they are: status, roles, and reference groups. For education they are: social institutions, social hierarchy, andsocialization).

Next, explain the attributes of a macro environment as well as the values and drawbacks associated with this perspective. Explain how gender works as a social force in society while also explaining the role of individual agency. Explain how race and ethnicity works as a social force in society. Explain how your understanding of stereotypes and stereotyping has expanded. Explain how social class works as a social force in society while demonstrating your understanding of mobility.

Finally, using either Milestone One (family) or Milestone Two (education), explain and demonstrate how the social forces of gender, race and ethnicity, and social class have shaped your individual identity or the identity of your family member or close friend. In conclusion, explain how your perspective has changed and been informed as a result of this course work. In what ways do you now think differently about your family or education (or the family or education of your chosen person) based on your knowledge and understanding of these larger societal forces of gender, race and ethnicity, and social class?
