What if…
Prompt: What if the cohort of writers of the U.S. Constitution included women, what would the collaboration have been like with men? What issues can you envision that would have been addressed/discussed that was not reflected in the U.S. Constitution? How would the Constitution have been different and how would it have impacted women in colonial society? Would Native American and African American women have been considered during debates and their rights factored into the Constitution? What rights might have been weighed/pondered for them at the time?

What if…
Prompt: You traveled back in time and had a lunch date with Mercy Otis Warren in the 1770s (see textbook), how would your conversation unfold? What questions would you ask her about her political views, views on gender roles, and women’s place in colonial society in general? How would she respond, and would you agree with her? What would you tell her about women’s role in the political sphere today, gender roles today, and how women are viewed in society today? How do you think she would respond. How would your conversation end?

Prompt: You traveled back in time and had a lunch date with Sojourner Truth, how would your conversation unfold? What questions would you ask her about political activism for women and people of color and how do you think she would respond to your questions? What would you tell her about the world today regarding women’s rights, women’s roles in society, and women’s role in politics? How do you think would she respond? Do you think she would find women are still facing discrimination/inequality in America today and what advice do you think she would offer women today?  How would your conversation end?
