Instructions: Write a five-paragraph essay about a pathogenic bacterium. Length of the paper
should be approximately 2 pages. Use a 12-point Times New Roman font and double spacing. Use
best writing practices (e.g. avoid poor sentence syntax and spelling errors.)
Title should be “interest-grabbing” and catch the reader’s attention.
Introductory paragraph
The introductory paragraph is a mini-outline. Start with general background information about the

prevalence, etc.). Include a thesis statement to inform the reader exactly what information you will be
presenting about the organism.
Body - Second paragraph
Write four to five well-developed sentences that Describe the microbe (cellular morphology & growth requirements). Discuss virulence factors leading to its pathogenicity
Body - Third paragraph
Write four to five well-developed sentences that Discuss what disease it causes and what are the signs & symptoms. Present possible treatments.
Body - Fourth paragraph
Write four to five well-developed sentences that Describe how the disease is transmitted. Tell how the chain of transmission can be broken.
Conclusion – Fifth paragraph
Write four to five well-developed sentences that reword the main ideas of the essay in an original
way, since it is the last chance the writer has to convince the reader of the validity of information
presented.
At least three references should be cited within body paragraphs using APA format.
