The Value of College Education

During the career of the high school, students have considered it importance to question the college education. Some may ask why it is that important to go to college. Therefore, the issue of going to college and earn a bachelor degree have become a concern to many individuals and there is the need of coming up with a standardized argument of whether the college education is variable to the students.

According to the argument of Catherine Rampell, the value of college education can be categorized into being valuable and none- valuable. She is much concerned about going to college and after for years of study you go back to the basements of your parents. Due to this, there is multiple questioning of the value of the college degree. The evidence remains that the college students have suffered due to the recession and at the same time lackluster. The questioning of the college degree has been due to increasing numbers of unemployment of the college graduates across the United States of America (Rampell, pp. 676- 681).

However, the value of education in America have increased because college graduates are nowadays in a high probability of getting jobs than their counterparts who have not attained a college education. This has been indicated by the percentage increase in the number of graduates who are currently getting employment. Besides, Catherine argues that even though college graduates are rated to have jobs, it is not automatic that they have good jobs.

This is evidenced because some graduates are provided with jobs that do not require college certificate. It is in the position to offer college graduates a job such as a car rental agent, receptionists and at the same time waitresses. This is a way of destroying the image of the college graduates since they are individuals who have a meaningful knowledge, which can be capitalized in skilled labor in the United States of America. Also, the graduates have been left frustrated by the poor job market because they are willing to perform any job offered to them since they do not have other alternatives.

Nowadays, college graduate finds it easier to finds jobs as compared to the less educated peers in the society. In most of the time, even though graduates gets less paying jobs, it has been analyzed that they are in a pole position to acquire promotion at workplaces. Therefore, according to Catherine Rampell, a college education is much important for graduates since they are in a high position to earn an income in the long learn.

Also, according to Peter Gestenzang, who is a journalist who writes about dogs and the popular culture have something to say regarding the value of the college education. There is the argument of the heap of the education loans, which is acquired by most of the students. It has remained difficult for a student to repay the loans because it accumulates to amount up to more than twenty thousand United States dollars. This has affected the growth of the college graduates financially because they have the obligation of payment of the loan the moment they get jobs (Peter, pp. 682- 684).

This is the reason to why poor students are awarded loans that they have to pay in their later future. If the college education or system have to become effective, it is much important to scrap the loans to the poor students. This will increase their morale of the college education since they will know that the government is taking care of them in paying some of their fees.

Also, the economistic have their say on the concern of the college education in the United States of America. Most of the economists have downplayed the increased online courses in America and the entire world. There is the lack of credibility like how the education system has been changed. The effect of a college education has been increased by the presence of technology, which has affected the education system (The Economist, pp. 685- 681).

Initially, the higher education has been regarded to be a radar to qualify for a good job after school. However, the increase in fees, student debts and at the same time, decreasing financial and educational returns is undermining the perception of the college or university education in America. This has made it less affordable to the poor individuals in the country thus increase the student debts. Therefore, according to economists, the education has become much expensive as compared to the past.

As per the argument of Catherine Rampell, Peter Gestenzang and at the same time economists, I could still argue that college education is much valuable. Firstly because it differentiate one from the rest and there are easy means of acquiring jobs and promotions. Also, students who have acquired college education have a high level of thinking, and they can start a business with the college education they have acquired. Therefore, even though the college education has numerous setbacks, it is the role of all the stakeholders to streamline the system for it to remain effective. Thus the education system will remain of importance all the time and beneficial to the graduates.
