Assessment Description: I Have a Dream is a classic piece of American oratory that, by drawing on sources ranging from The Declaration of Independence to the Bible, places its author within a particular tradition of wisdom and knowledge. Familiarize yourself with this speech using a credible source. Analyze the speech, considering it as an argument from authority in which King establishes a persuasive ethos by placing himself in this tradition of wisdom. Based on your analysis of the speech, answer the following questions:  What is the speech’s claim and how does King support that claim?  How do voice, gesture, dress, and general appearance support King’s depiction of himself?
