The long solenoid pictured below has 220 turns/cm and carries a current I=1.5A. Its diameter is D=3.2cm. At its center there is a 130-turns close-packed coil of diameter 2.1cm. The current in the solenoid is reduced to zero at a steady rate in 25ms. (a) Draw in the magnetic field generated by the current I inside the solenoid and calculate it. (b) What is the magnetic flux through one coil? (c) Which way does the induced current flow through the coil? Represent the direction of the current in the figure. (d) What emf is induced in the coil while the current in the solenoid is changing?
