Long- term investments include accounts payable, accrued compensation payable, accrued liabilities accrued income. Property, plant, and equipment include land and land improvements, Buildings and leasehold improvements, machinery and equipment and construction in process. Intangible assets include Music catalogues and copyrights, cable television and sports franchises, brands and trademarks, goodwill and other intangible assets. These groupings help the business determine such things as whether the company has enough assets to pay its debts as the come due and the claims of the short-and long-term creditors on the company’s total assets. A company’s current assets are important in assessing its short-term debt paying ability.
