renting a bedroom

I am renting a bedroom in a house that is shared by the landlord couple and three other tenants. The landlords are thinking to get even more tenants in and they also want us to pay them the rent in cash. I know they know the tax rules really well and one of them once told me that she had no issues not paying income taxes, she doesn't feel it's immoral. I have been living with them for several months now. I know they are very calculating, pretentious and dishonest. I am pretty sure they do not declare the income they receive from renting out the bedrooms in their house. I think this is illegal, but can someone confirm that? If it is indeed illegal, what can I do to stop their tax evasion act? I live in Alberta, Canada. By the way, the windows in their basement are quite small. Due to the size of the windows, I don't think it's legal to rent out their basement, but they are doing it anyways. I would love to have some advices on what I can do to stop their illegal acts. Thanks a lot.
