a) Estimate the effort and schedule for the following software project and account for adapted code.

COST DRIVERS: schedule compression ratio = 75%, the effect of a software failure is a large equipment loss, the average applications experience = 6 years, the platform operating system is expected to have a major change once per year, there is a comprehensive toolset fully integrated across all activities, and all other cost drivers are nominal.
For the modified code:
- 40 out of 100 design modules were replaced; all others were untouched
- 30 KSLOCS out of the total 75 KSLOCS of code were modified
- The integration of the modified code is estimated to be 2/3 of the effort compared to if it was all new
- To understand the software it is described as:
structure - high cohesion, low coupling
application clarify - good correlation between program and application
self-descriptiveness - moderate level of comments, headers, documentation
- assessment and assimilation of the software required basic module search and documentation
