Mainframe computer systems

Contrary to what some commentators believed that mainframe computing would have been squeezed out of existence in a few years, mainframe is still at the core of enterprise business operations. Mainframe computer systems is defined as data processing system employed mainly in the large organizations for various applications, including bulk data processing, process control, industry and consumer statistics, enterprise resource planning, and financial transaction processing. Mainframe systems are considered to be very reliable and stable.

This is very important to major corporations, and that's why large companies have adopted IBM AS 400 and other similar ERP solutions that rely on mainframe systems. Also, mainframe provide the ideal platform for big data analytics, data warehouses, production processing, and web applications while supporting millions of users with superior performances. It is for this reason that many analysts are beginning to state that mainframe may simply evolve and not get squeezed out of existence as was once believed.

What kind of technological revolution do you think mainframe should go through in order to remain competitive with Big Data, Cloud, Supercomputing etc ?
