type of decisions analytics i

Brief presentation on any recent article (you can go to http://fivethirtyeight.com to get the idea) or a chapter from a book that contains any type of decisions analytics in the area of your interest can be prepared. Also, you may select a chapter from the two books that are posted on Blackboard, but this is not preferred and the upper limit is 3% as opposed to 5%. If you are not sure whether the article or chapter is related to decision analytics, please check with me before preparation. 3

You will have up to 10 minutes to share the content with the class. You may wish to prepare a few overheads to support your presentation. The focus of the presentation should be on the problem, mathematical model that is developed to help make better decisions, along with the insights and findings. Your presentation will be graded based on how well you prepared along with the content of the presentation. The presentation file must be submitted via e-mail before class.

Opportunities for presentations are listed in the course schedule. You may sign up for these slots on a first-come-first-serve basis. A list of available and assigned slots will be posted on Blackboard.

If you are seeking for extra credit, you could define your own problem and build a mathematical model to help you make better decisions whenever you confront that problem. The upper limit is 10% if you choose this path as opposed to 5%. However, note that you are not guaranteed to get 10% just because you defined your problem and built your own model. You will be graded based on the clarity of the problem that you define and the robustness and insights your model is able provide.
