Essay Question:

Preserving a species (whether plant or animals) always seems like a good idea.  However there are limitations to doing so.  What influences do you see when it comes to preservation?  Discuss a species (plant, animal, or insect) that is currently under some type of protection.  Why is this species under protection, and what are the consequences to the local biological community for preserving this species?  Some points to consider, is this a keystone species, did it have economic value, was public pressure a factor.

 

The Earth has a limited amount of resources.  Use of these resources is very beneficial to the human population, however, there is always a cost for those resources.  One such topic currently being debated is climate change.  As we use fossil fuels, add waste to the environment, and deplete resources, we are seeing a change in the global environment.  Discuss climate change in terms of if it is happening, what is causing it, the immediate and long term effects, and what we can do to offset these changes.
