cash methods

I have a problem in completing a worksheet to convert accrual to cash methods. The result of determining the reduction in the accounts receivable. I believe the reduction in A.R. results in an increase in sales. However the entry to reduce A.R. will be a credit and the resulting entry to cash will be a debit, This appears to be wrong.
