Nurses are tasked in many ways to "fix" the healthcare system.  Nurses are with the patients more than any other healthcare team member.  We know what the issues are and we are, and we are the ones educating our patients to help bring about a state of health rather than fixing illness.  In my area of practice we educate new Mothers about how Breast Feeding is better with the "Baby Friendly" Initiative, we have a lot of education for pregnant women when Gestational Diabetes is a problem because of the wide ranging problems for the unborn baby.  What types of initiatives are expected in your area of practice?
