Assignment Description
As the new Employee Relations manager in your organization (or one with which you are familiar), you have been tasked with developing a comprehensive onboarding program. The organization has never had one before, and the organization's leaders have been hearing about the value of onboarding. You Develop an onboarding program that will not only introduce new employees to the organization but also facilitate their engagement in it. Your leaders want a program that does more than a traditional new hire orientation, but have said that you can include orientation in the new onboarding program.
As you develop the onboarding program, be sure it uses best practices; reflects your organization's mission, vision, and values; and is legally compliant. Depending on your organization or industry, it might be helpful to include specialized knowledge training, abilities, skills, attitudes, and other competencies in your onboarding program. Note:This feature of the program will probably be customized for individual jobs, so it is not necessary nor even helpful to provide a lot of detail about training. Recognizing that training might be a valuable component of the onboarding process and providing rationale for that idea will be sufficient.
