please do it carefully and 2 question again do it carefully ........

Question 1 :

DO ORIGINAL WORK.  DO NOT PLAGIARIZE!!!

You will be doing a “review” of an article from an academic journal.  This review is NOT a summary of the article; rather it is a critique and analytic evaluation.

Your review needs to be a minimum of 2 full typed-written pages--double spaced.  Use either 10 or 12 point font.  All margins need to be 1 inch.

Essential elements include:

  1. It looks at the substance of the article.
  2. It includes information on the format and presentation of the article.
  3. It includes a brief summary of the article so that the audience/reader will have an understanding of what the article was about.
  4. It looks at the major and minor themes, organization, and overall development of the article.
  5. It’s critical—both favorable and unfavorable.

SELECTING THE ARTICLE:

  1. Choose an article from a “peer reviewed” journal.
  2. Choose an article that is manageable.  I would suggest avoiding a 50-page article.  Also, avoid a 1 paragraph article.
  3. Look for something of interest to you.  If you find the subject uninteresting, more than likely I will too.
  4. Select an article that relates to the material we are covering or have already covered.  It must be healthcare technology related!
  5. DO NOT critique a “book review”!!!

 READING THE ARTICLE:

  1. Take notes while reading.  What were your reactions?
  2. Note the questions the author raises and how he/she answers the questions.  Did the author answer the questions?
  3. Were the author’s arguments convincing?  Why or Why Not?

WRITING THE ARTICLE REVIEW:

Keep these questions in mind:

1.      What is the author’s purpose in writing this article?

2.      What was the article about?

3.      Are the author’s conclusions presented clearly or are they implied?

4.      Does the author adequately support his/her claims?

  REVIEWS SHOULD INCLUDE:

1.      Title of Article:  Pertinent bibliographical information.

2.      Summary:  Again this should be brief.  This is NOT a page-by-page “book report”, but a summary of the substance of the article.  Do NOT cut and paste this part!

4.      Body of Review:  This is the bulk of the review.  It should address the above questions.  It states the major themes of the article.

5.     It is not necessary to state whether you enjoyed the article or not.

6.      Proofread:  Be sure to proofread your review before you turn it in.  Use correct grammar and writing mechanics.

7.   A copy of the article or a link to the article.

Question 2:

In  Health Information Systems , I want you to go on the Internet and find 2 different vendors that sell one of the types of systems that we discussed (you can choose any of the systems--nursing, management, clinical, PACS, CDSS etc etc). Just choose a type of system and then go online and find a company that sells that type of system. Read through their website and gain as much information as you can on that vendor's product.

Submit to me: A Word document summarizing what you found and the link to the sites. Don't just copy and paste from the site!!! I want a summary in your own words of what the product are, what they do and other information you found. If you can find prices, that would be great. If you can find images, screen shots, examples of what it looks like, even better. Just do your best to find as much information about that product as you can, compare the two and put that in a Word document. Then tell me which you would purchase and why.

Warning....do NOT just send me the name of the product and the site and say "I couldn't really find alot about this product". If that is the case, CHOOSE A DIFFERENT ONE!! Keep looking, google something else, but don't settle for something that doesn't give you enough information to learn about that product and what it does.
