The prevalence of obesity remains high and affects millions children and adolescents.

You will be assigned either childhood obesity or obesity in the adolescent population. You may find it useful to refer to the following resources as appropriate:

Initial Discussion Post:

Identify three (3) contributing factors in your assigned population.  Using that data assign two (2) appropriate nursing diagnoses and provide four nursing interventions, with rationales, that the RN can implement to address the needs of the assigned population.

Then, consider the adult population, and imagine you are beginning to develop a teaching plan to address the needs of a specific individual.  How would you assess the patient's learning needs?  Consider any barriers you might encounter, and identify one (1) expected outcome and two (2) interventions for this individual.

Base your initial post on your readings and research of this topic.

 

You are required to make two (2) responses to the initial posts of two (2) different peers.

In one (1) response, choose a peer who was assigned a population different from yours. Offer evidence based suggestions the RN could use to assist the patient in dealing with the identified problem for the child or adolescent.

In your second response, consider the adult that a peer discussed, and compare and contrast the outcome and interventions that your classmate chose with your own.

Use your Nursing Diagnosis handbook, your text readings, and the websites provided as references for your evidence.

In your responses to your peers' posts provide constructive and insightful comments that go beyond that of agree or disagree.
