The lifetime of a light bulb is known to be an exponential random variable with average lifetime of λ−1 = 12 months. Given that eight such light bulbs are used sequentially, calculate the following probabilities.

(a) Treating the problem as an m-Erlang, what is the probability that their combined lifetime is less than 3 years?

(b) Using the Central Limit Theorem, determine the probability that their combined lifetime is less than 3 years.
