wondering if you could help me understand more about current events in the hacking world

Hey guys - wondering if you could help me understand more about current events in the hacking world. Looking for real-world examples (within the last year where companies were breached using SQL Injection (Database hack). Just looking for some articles on the matter, so I can research and read myself about what happened and how they were exploited.

Also not really a coder - Any information secure coding?? (Basics?) How could these have been missed (on the database side when configuring)
