Shaping

 Shaping is the process by which new operant behaviors are created.  Shaping involves the reinforcement of successive approximations of the target behavior.  It does not involve demonstrating the behavior, providing instructions, or physically guiding a response.  

 

Using the procedure of shaping, describe how you could accomplish the following task:   Your roommate never helps clean the kitchen.  Describe how you could shape kitchen cleaning in your roommate without ever asking her to clean the kitchen.  Make sure to describe each of the steps in the shaping process. (hint: try using money as a reinforcer)
