Marketing 1. You are required to select a company that markets its consumer products in Singapore. It does not have to be owned by a local. It can be a foreign company, as long as it sells its products here. Groups are to choose a product-based business and not a service-based business). The company you have chosen should not be a distributor of products. (Please use this company, Panasonic and the product chosen is rice cooker) 2. Next, identify a new product that you think this company might find suitable to launch and market in Singapore (i.e. it must be a product that is related to its line of business and it must also be new and not marketed before by the company). For example, if you choose Nokia, then the product you might come up with a phone that monitors blood pressure. (Remember the product chosen is rice cooker and the product to target on working professionals) Requirements Part A : 1. Write a positioning statement for your product, rice cooker. (use the following Format and see the example shown but DO NOT COPY) Format: “To (target segment and need) our (brand) is (a concept) that (point of difference).” Example: “To busy mobile professionals who need to always be in the loop, Blackberry is a wireless connectivity solution that gives you an easier, more reliable way to stay connected to data, people, and resources while on the go.” Part B : 2. Product: Using the three levels of product concept (i.e., core benefit, actual product and augmented product), describe the new product, rice cooker that you have come up with. (minimum 1200 words) 3. Come up with a Promotions campaign for the product, rice cooker by using the promotion mix tools (i.e., advertising, public relations, personal selling, sales promotion and direct marketing). Please use all five different elements of the promotion mix tools. (minimum 2500 words) Remember: You need to demonstrate an ability to apply marketing concepts. Part C : Your report must also include an Introduction and a Conclusion. Ensure that you use paragraphs and headings for your points. Use diagrams or pictures where necessary.
