I need help with an assignment. Please see attached.

Digital media has changed the ways ideas, information, and arguments in society are communicated both locally and globally. Individuals and organizations frequently use digital media as a means to influence individuals and organizations.

Deliverable for Project 2

Students are required to identify news stories which demonstrate how digital media has been used to influence or has changed core business processes within one organization or for one individual. This project needs to be related to an organization or an individual not an industry. Doing it on an Industry would be too broad a topic You will then create a presentation using PowerPoint which interprets and analyzes how the messages within the digital media were used to guide decision-making. Ensure that this is done on organization or individual not a broad topic. Ensure you ask if you use another topic then what will be in announcement.

Also note if you do this on something too recent that has been in the news it may be that it is too recent to successfully cover the intent of this project. …as change may not have taken place and if it has may not have been analyzed yet in articles.

What you are looking for here is something that happened that forced change and it would be something external. Please look at my examples( at the end of this document) as they are news stories of something that happened that forced change. If a company decides they need to do things differently because they are not making enough money....no that would not work.

Many times organizations are effected by news stories about them or an occurrence about them that is in the news. Generally it is negative as we know that forces change. How did this effect change related to digital media for that organization. Change as in core business/organizational processes. Basically what happened and reaction to news story that is digital media focused. Influence or change to organization, how analysis guided decision making and results of change. This is again on an organization (business) or an individual.

Title Slide: Include your name, instructor's name, and presentation title.

Length Requirement: Minimum of 15 slides and a maximum of 20. Gradated penalty for too less or too many slides. This means that the more slides you are away from the 15-20 range, the more points will be deducted.  The slide count excludes the title and reference slides.

Formatting Requirements

  1. Layout and Design: Slides must be easy to read and uncluttered.  Pictures and images should be used sparingly to avoid distraction from the main contents.
  2. Font Size: Use standard font like Times New Roman or Arial. Use 36-point font for title, 28-point font for main points, and 24-point font for secondary points.
  3. Footer: Include the slide number, title of your presentation, and your name in the footer (except on title slide).
  4. File Name: The document is saved using the correct protocol (LastnameFirstinitial_Presentation)
  5. Background/Theme: Appropriate for the presentation. Use creativity here, but your background color or design must not detract from the readability of the slides. A bad example would be using dark text against a dark background. Make sure the background and font colors are a good contrast.

Presentation Requirements

Contents: You MUST have slides with the following titles:

  • Introduction and Synopsis of News Story (introduce the specific news story/stories). Introduction -- Provided thorough overview of news event or advertising campaign. Synopsis -- Complete overview of how digital media created influence and was used
  • Influence on or change to Organization and/or Individual (how did digital media and event help to guide changes to organizations/individuals? What does the article/s and other sources say about this? Thorough discussion of the influence/impact that digital media had on the organizations related to news event.
  • Analysis of How Digital Media Guided Decision Making (how does digital media help individuals handle the decision making process, did they develop any alternatives, how did they arrive at making the decisions and implementing the solutions? Thorough analysis of the influence that digital media had on the targeted group or individual including reference to sources illustrating the influence.
  • Conclusion and Analysis of Results of Change (What are your personal views on the topic? What do other sources have to say about this topic? Thorough conclusion drawn from the influence that digital media had on the targeted group or individual including reference to sources illustrating the influence.

·

    • Do not give a term paper on slides.  In other words slides should have bullets with key points not large paragraphs of text..  You can use notes area to give more detail and I would expect that area would need to be used to do this sufficiently.
    • Use heading on slides with criteria you are covering for example.  Slides related to how digital media guided decision making should have title on slide that lets reader know that is what you are covering . This presents and organized presentation.

References Slide: Minimum of two professional / scholarly sources cited using APA formatting. Note: Please do not use unprofessional sources such as Wikipedia, About.com, Answers.com, Dictionary.com, How.com, or anything remotely similar.  Examples of scholarly sources include: our course content (e.g. Read & Watch resources), textbooks, journal articles, trade magazines, and conference proceedings. UMUC has a top-notch, extensive online library. You can find many scholarly sources there. Note: "Personal communications (e.g. Twitter Posts, Blogs, and YouTube Videos)" are not considered professional or scholarly sources.
