quick question about loading data from a txt file in C++.

Hello,

 

I have a quick question about loading data from a txt file in C++. For example, I have to load in data from a .txt upon the launch of the application and then a menu shows on whether to sign in or exit. The user would sign in with their first and last name. Their sign-in is dependent of another menu that is shown. How do I tell if the name that the user enters is part of the .txt file so that it can tell which menu to display after sign in.
