Genesee Hospital

Kraft, a nurse, was hired by Genesee Hospital at a beginning salary of $15,000 per year and was assigned to the surgical ward. A short time later, Timmons, also a nurse, was hired and assigned to the surgical ward to perform the same duties as Kraft. His salary, however, was only $12,000. When Timmons discovered the difference in pay, he complained to the administrator who had hired him. The administrator claimed that nursing was traditionally a job for women, that women performed better on the job and therefore should be paid more. Can Timmons force the hospital to pay him the same salary as Kraft?
