Problems 4.2-4, 4.3-1, 4.4-3 use nodal analysis
Problems 4.5-4, 4.6-4, 4.7-2 use mesh current approach
Due Tuesday June 13
Helpful (I hope)Â hints:
If there are resisters in series in these circuits combine them first. for example 4.3-1 combine the 10 and 8 ohm resisters first then there is only one unknown (Vb where b is the node above the 2 amp source).
In 4.4-3 the current going through the 2K resister is 6ia. You can only write equation for left loop.Â
In 4.5-4 using mesh current approach I came out with 2 equation (1 for each loop) and 3 unknowns. Using KCL at center top I was able to substitute for i3 in terms of i1 and i2. Now I have 2 equations and 2 unknown so I can solve.
In 4.6-4 I again had to use substitution because there is only 1 equation from right loop.using the direction i used in class - i1 = 20 mAÂ + i2.
In 4.7-2 there is only 1 unknown ia. I got 1 equation from left side loop.
