Congestion management is a main focus

Congestion management is a main focus for any network administrator. Networks are dynamic. Problems develop over time due to ever-changing business requirements, the evolving needs of the end user community, and increasing demands for the network. The network administrator responds by adapting and adjusting the network to meet these demands. Discuss in 2-3 pages congestion management options. Your post should include the following:

  • Define congestion.
  • What are common causes of congestion (runts, giants, dropped packets, late collisions, input/output errors, etc.)?
  • What role, if any, does a bridge or a switch play in network congestion?
  • What techniques can a network administrator deploy to resolve these issues?
  • Which techniques do you believe to be most effective? Support your views.
