Discussion Question: Understanding Components of Active Directory

Active Directory (AD) was designed by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and is based on the X.500 suite of protocols. Microsoft first included AD in Windows Server 2000. In this lesson, you learned about AD's four organizing components, which include organizational units (OU), domains, trees and forests.

Using the web search for articles on the best practices for creating a domain structure. Then address the following in your discussion post:

1) In your opinion, why might an organization have multiple trees within an AD forest?

2) Do you think this is necessary? Explain.

3) What do you believe is the best practice for creating a domain structure? Why?
