Best Practices for Creating Organizational Units

Discussion Question: Best Practices for Creating Organizational Units

Within companies, people are hired, fired, change departments, change their names, lose or forget their passwords. With company expansion comes the installation of new computers on the network. An AD administrator will be tasked with managing accounts when any of theses account activities occur.

Within Active Directory, organizational units (OU) are used to structure a domain. OUs can offer flexibility and ease when managing users and applying group policies. Using the Internet and your textbook, research some best practices for designing and creating OUs. Then address the following;

1. What do you believe are the best practices for creating OUs? Why?

2. Describe two different structures for OUs. In your opinion, what are two advantages and two disadvantages of these structures? Explain?
