function accepts an account class type as a parameter

A function accepts an account class type as a parameter and needs to access data from it. What needs to be done before accessing that data?

 

A function returns an integer and accepts a fractional parameter then returns that parameter, what would happen to the value being passed into it then returned?

 

If a function needs to accept three parameters but the middle parameter is almost always going to be the same value, what can be done to make it easier on the user of the function?
