IDS 200 Access
You are a database manager at the Jack Henry electronics store. The company maintains a database containing the following tables “SalesOrders” and “OrderItems”. The SalesOrderstableincludes details like the SalesOrderID, Date of sale, CustomerID and OrderTotal. OrderTotal calculates the total order amount made by a particular customer. The OrderItems table includes details like SalesOrderID, ItemID, ItemQuantity, and ItemUnitPrice.
The October month has just ended and Thanksgiving is in the upcoming month. You have been tasked to make sure that all the accounts for October are up to date and is presented it in a more readable ‘form’ like a paper form, to your boss as he is not comfortable using datasheets in Access.
In this assignment, you are given an Access database. You will modify this Access file according to the tasks you are required to do (listed below).
The tasks to be performed are:
a) In the OrderItems table, you are required to calculate ItemTotal by multiplying ItemQuantity and ItemUnitPrice. In order to do this, create a new query using the OrderItems table. The results of the query should display all the fields of this table as well as a new column which is the ItemTotal. Save the query and name it as Calculated_Item_Total.
b) Create a ‘form’ in the Design view based on the results of query Calculated_Item_Total and sav e the form as Items_Summary.
c) Select all the label controls, click and drag to position the fields at the 0.25” mark on the horizontal ruler.
d) Select all the text box controls, click and drag the right edges to position align with the 4.00” mark on the horizontal ruler.
e) Insert a logo from a file Logo.jpgin the header of the form (left corner). Change the width of the logo to .75"and the height of the logo to .5”.
f) To the right of the logo, insert a title label control, accepting the default text, Items_Summary. Resize the title label control to be 4” wide.
g) Insert a command button in the Detail section of the form at the 1.5” mark on the horizontal ruler and the 2.5” mark on the vertical ruler (i.e. the top left corner of the command button should be at this position). Set up the button so that when it is clicked, the previous record becomes active, accept all other defaults. Name the button Previous.
h) To the right of thePrevious button, insert another command button at the 2.5” mark on the horizontal ruler and the 2.5” mark on the vertical ruler (i.e. the top left corner of the command button should be at this position). Set up the button so that when it is clicked, the next record becomes active, accept all other defaults. Name the button Next.
i) Change the properties of the Previous and Next buttons so that they reflect the font: Constantiawith font size 14.
j) Insert a label control in the footer of the form at the 0.5” mark on the horizontal ruler. Type YOURNAME.com as the label text.
