Effect of massage on boxers. Refer to the British Journal of Sports Medicine (Apr. 2000) study of the effect of massage on boxing performance, presented in Exercise 10.72 (p. 518). Two other variables measured on the boxers were blood lactate concentration (in μM) and the boxer’s perceived recovery (on a 28-point scale). On the basis of information provided in the article, the data shown in the accompanying table (and saved in the BOXING2 file) were obtained for 16 five-round boxing performances in which a massage was given to the boxer between rounds.
