Butterworth lowpass filter

Nick recently built a simple second order Butterworth lowpass filter for his home stereo. Although the system performs pretty well, Nick is an overachiever and hopes to improve the system performance Unfortunately, Nick is pretty lazy and doesn’t want to design another filter performance, “ he suggest filtering the audio two signals professor is skeptical and states, if you are using identical filter, it makes no difference whether you filter once or twice who is correct ? WHY?
