It has been shown that skin cancer is related to sun exposure. The rate W at which a person’s skin absorbs energy from the sun depends on the energy S, in watts per square meter, provided by the sun, the surface area A exposed to the sun, the ability of the body to absorb energy, and the angle  between the sun’s rays and a line perpendicular to the body. The ability of an object to absorb energy is related to a factor called the emissivity, e, of the object. The emissivity can be calculated using the formula
