linear relationship


Construct an (x, y) scatter plot that shows very little linear relationship between X and Y when X varies from 10 to 20 but does show evidence of a linear relationship when the range is increased to 10–30. Would you fit a (common) simple linear regression line through the entire set of data or would you fit a line to each segment? (The latter is called piecewise linear regression.)
