clearance between shaft


A steel shaft 12 mm in diameter passes concentrically through a rigid housing whose inside diameter is 17 mm. The shaft may be considered as simply supported at the bearings. What is the maximum bending moment M. which can be applied to the end of the shaft if the clearance between shaft and housing is to be not less than 2.5 mm.
