applied torque

a.       Determine the applied torque required to accelerate a rotor of mass 100 kg and radius of gyration 500 mm from a speed of 50–300 rpm in a time of 12 s. Neglect bearing friction.

b.      A flywheel of mass 50 kg and radius of gyration 175 mm is accelerated from rest to a speed of 500 rpm in 10 s. There is a bearing friction torque of 2 Nm. Determine (a) the angular acceleration, (b) the applied torque.
