thermal expansion

The thermal expansion of a new material in the form of a 150 mm bar is measured by comparison with a 120 mm long standard copper bar with a thermal expansion coefficient of 17(10-6)(°C)-1. The two bars are fixed at one end to a common plate, and the change in separation of the other two ends is measured with an LVDT (linear variable displacement transducer). When the temperature is raised from 25°C to 100°C, the ends of the two bars are now separated by an additional 0.027 mm. Determine the thermal expansion coefficient of the new material.
