One of the parameters that is used to evaluate the performance of an engine is its brake specific fuel consumption (bsfc). defined as

where, for a given engine, the parameters on the right-hand side of the equation are measured and found to be as follows

We can tolerate a total uncertainty of 1.S% in the measurement of bsfc.
(a) Calculate the rated bsfc.
(b) Determine the maximum tolerable uncertainty in each measurement. This will occur when the uncertainties of the other measurements are negligible.
(c) For a total uncertainty of ±.S% in bsfc, calculate the relative (%) uncertainty of the measured parameters if all of them have the same relative uncertainty.
(d) Calculate the absolute value of the uncertainty in each of the measured parameters, based on the results of part (c).
